Our ethical framework is based on the following fundamental values: Commitment, Solidarity, Tolerance and Internationality. These values constitute the basis of our principles of action, which translate, in their specific applications, into interventions that encourage self-help, self-reliance and social integration.Dianova Programs
Since the very origins of the Dianova network, we have been working for and with young people. The know-how acquired through our past efforts has become a key element during recent years in designing interventions for "at-risk" youth in addition to drug abusers, including children, adolescents and young adults who are confronted with family disruptions, inner-city youth, "street" youth, illegal immigrants, youth who are violent or victims of violence and others. Three examples of these interventions are as follows:

Urban Breakaway Program for Canadian Street Youth
Since November of 2004 Dianova Canada’s innovative Breakaway Program has offered urban street youth a respite from the streets. The program is structured around a 6-day stay at Dianova Canada's residential drug treatment center in rural Quebec. This intensive stay gives participants a drug and alcohol free chance to reflect on the possibility of positive life changes. Recreation, educational activities and personal development workshops – presented in a safe, friendly atmosphere – allow participants to envision a changed lifestyle and to believe that it can be a realistic goal. A recent study by the Douglas Hospital of McGill University reports very positive results from the program.

Dianova Nicaragua School for Rural and Street Children
Since 1997 Dianova Nicaragua has operated a school providing both primary and secondary education for over 300 children annually. The school is accredited by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports. Originated for the purpose of serving homeless urban children, most of whom are orphans, the program now also includes rural children from low-income families. Room and board is provided for the urban children. In addition to academics, a psychosocial program and a drug prevention program are provided. Together, these components strengthen protective factors to combat risk situations to which the children are exposed, which can include illiteracy, child labor, prostitution, drug-abuse and delinquency.
